The Fringe Crochet Capelet

An incredibly special piece, handwoven from 100% cotton yarn by a community of women in rural Mexico. Each capelet takes approximately 6–8 weeks to complete, featuring an intricate open crochet construction and generous hand-knotted fringe.

Our relationship with these artisans began through a chance introduction to one woman in their community, a remote village inaccessible by road. We meet at a designated point in the desert to exchange materials and finished pieces. What began with one woman has grown to include her friends, sisters, and family, creating a collective of artisans whose work is at the heart of SLOAN.

Each piece represents more than craftsmanship. It is a vehicle for community, female empowerment, and sustainable economic opportunity. Made slowly, with intention, and imbued with the soul and care of the women who create it.
